However, knowing a lot of Erasmus students I am always surprised at the amount of hot girls that come from real Turkish cities like Izmir or Istanbul, and they are very liberal, dress in mini skirts and high heels, and are very warm and friendly. Only ever heard of one guy SNL'ing a muslim girl, and she was from Egypt - pretty sure Turkey is worse.Besides, Istanbul or Izmir would be far from the many shitholes you find in many other countries with beautiful women, and offer a lot of attractions apart from the women. OTOH I've heard from people that have been to Istanbul that many Turkish men have game and are big time hustlers and players. I've found Turkish girls living in America to be extremely receptive to any sort of decent game.Turkey is a land that stands at the meeting point of the Orient and Occident.Hence Turkish culture has many of the positive aspects of both the East and West.
I wondered if they would be anything like American men, the only type I knew, or if the culture would alter their personality completely.
So if you are involved in a profession where you spend long hours with male co-workers, are out for most nights or touring in other towns, you can expect a Turkish male partner to disapprove.
Traditional notions about gender roles may also extend towards how much women in their family should earn, how they should spend and how far they should take family decisions.
Men expect women to follow gender roles as laid down by tradition which essentially means taking care of the home and family.
This is in no way a compulsion since both Turkish as well as Turkish-American women are encouraged to study and work but somewhere, somehow they are expected to conform to ‘womanly’ pursuits, preferably as a teacher, nurse, doctor, in an office job and so on.
